RTO Compliance tip – Showing industry consultation in your RTO

Merinda explains how you can be recording your industry consultation within your RTO and the benefits of having learning and assessment strategies within your RTO. Follow the RTO compliance tips to make your RTO a quality registered training organistation.

The learning and Assessment strategy is the MOST important RTO compliance document.

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) must develop strategies for training and assessment that meet the requirements of the relevant training package (or accredited course) and are developed in consultation with industry stakeholders. It needs to document; how you are going to train, and how you are going to deliver. It should read like a story of how your operation works.

It is important to remember that no learning and assessment strategy should be implemented without consultation with industry professionals and/or target client/client groups. Email your clients and ask them which units best meet their needs. When responses are received include them in your strategy.

Involve your Trainers and Assessors when developing the strategy, and then when a new course is  to be implemented. It will tell them about the course they are expected to deliver and detail the elective units,  the session times, modes of delivery, where to access resources and usually why it is written a particular way.
