The draft standards build on the work of the former National Skills Standards Council (NSSC), and incorporate a range of stakeholder views on that work, including issues raised during the broader VET reform consultation process undertaken in early 2014. These issues included some concerns about the relative costs and benefits of some of the changes proposed by the former NSSC.
The VET Reform Taskforce is currently analysing all comments and submissions received on the draft revised standards. During August the Taskforce will undertake further redrafting of the standards with the view to workshopping these with the states and territories and the regulators in preparation for finalising the standards for consideration by the COAG Industry and Skills Council. It is intended that the revised standards will come into effect from 1 January 2015.
