Public submissions are now open to inform a review of the data policy that underpins Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) system.
The review is an important opportunity to improve the transparency and efficiency of VET. Stakeholders who use VET data, or are involved in its collection or reporting, may be interested in contributing to the review. The Review provides an opportunity to consider whether the Data Policy is working as intended, and your feedback is important.
The issues paper
An issues paper summarising potential areas of interest around each term of reference is available to assist stakeholders with their submissions. This issues paper has been drafted to assist stakeholders that are planning to provide a submission to this Review. It is intended that the issues paper will provide a ‘prompt’ for respondents in considering some of the subjects they may wish to address in their submissions.
In particular:
- Are the Policy and Protocol clear and concise and easily understood by users?
- Do they support the objective of enhanced transparency and help data users comply with legislation?
- Do they enable the right access to data by relevant organisations?
- Do they balance regulatory requirements with the value and usefulness of the data collected for consumers, industry, RTOs, policy makers, individuals and other interested VET stakeholders?
A short online survey is also available.
Information about the VET Data Policy Review, including the public consultations is available on the Department of Education and Training website.
The closing date for submissions is 16 September 2016.
