The Standards for RTOs 2015 require each RTO to provide ASQA with an annual declaration on compliance with the Standards.
ASQA advises RTOs can now submit this declaration using a newly released online form. The first submission of the annual declaration will be required by 31 March 2016.
The form requires the CEO of each RTO to declare:
- Whether the RTO currently complies with each national standard and if not, what actions are being taken to remedy non-compliance.
- Whether the RTO complied with each national standard for all AQF certification it issued since 1 April 2015.
- Whether the RTO has training and assessment strategies and practices in place to ensure all learners will receive training and assessment in accordance with the requirements of the Standards.
- The names and roles of all persons who exercise a significant degree of control or influence over the management or direction of the RTO.
- That the RTO (considering all significant owners and managerial agents) meets the Fit and Proper Person Requirements of the Standards.
So what is the purpose of this declaration – well it is continuous improvement. It means you are consistently striving to analyse and improve your service against the RTO standards, and your customer needs. This process is ongoing and in the long term, achieves:
- Customer focus
- Enhanced quality of service delivery
- Simplified processes and procedures
- Attitudinal change with the RTO
- Compliance to the RTO Standards
Continuous improvement is a necessity and this declaration simply is asking what is happening within your RTO. if you have found any non-compliances and the actions you have taken to rectify them.
