Foundation Skills Workforce Development Project Evaluation Overview

Initial findings from the FSWD Project’s external evaluator indicate that project activities have reached a wide range of stakeholders across the country and raised awareness of foundation skills in education and training.

PhillipsKPA were engaged to undertake an evaluation of the effectiveness of the FSWD Project in building the skills of the foundation skills workforce. Using consultation and survey approaches the evaluator gathered information from key stakeholders and project participants. Findings to date include:

Workforce Development projects

  • Approximately 520 individuals from a broad range of industry training fields were involved in activities to develop practical workforce development models or solutions.
  • Many stakeholders are keen to access the outcomes of workforce development projects and to apply the models and solutions in different settings.

Professional Development workshops

  • Most workshop participants reported that they had increased their skills, knowledge and confidence in relation to foundation skills and the FSK Training Package.
  • Almost 90% of workshop participants reported that their participation allowed them to raise awareness of foundation skills in their workplace, and 80% reported that their involvement in the workshop had made a difference to their professional practice.
