Initial RTO application self-assessment

With the ASQA application comes the need to complete your self-assessment of your proposed RTO. this assessment serves as a great tool to allow you to really reflect on what it is you have produced for your RTO.

You will need to demonstrate through the self assessment process how you plan in delivering training to industry standards, meeting the learning needs of your clients, continuously improving the outcomes of these, and how you will meet the requirements of the national VET system.

Applicants seeking initial registration as an RTO are to use this Self Assessment template developed by ASQA sitting in their site in the FORMs section. www.asqa.gov.au.

The self assessment template offers useful information on conducting the self assessments and preparing for audit.

It is important you go through the report in detail, and often using a 3rd party as a good benchmark.

Applicants for initial registration must have a thorough working knowledge of the national VET system, including the national skills framework, which includes:

  •  training packages,
  • the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
  • and the VET Quality Framework.

Applications must also be able to demonstrate they have established the foundations of a sustainable business so as to demonstrate their preparedness to operate as an RTO and to deliver quality training and assessment outcomes.

The self-assessment confirms that you have the capability to operate effectively as an RTO on registration. To show this the self-assessment must be thoroughly completed and supported by evidence of compliance.

F4 Solutions conducts these assessments for you and prepares a report detailing any gaps.

People ask me what are the typical questions that auditors will ask you; well there aren’t any, however I can guarantee that if you don’t have a sound understanding of your systems and processes, then those will be the questions that are asked.
