Does your RTO Safety procedures empower employees with Safety and health accountability?

A new report released by Safe Work Australia shows that small businesses require greater support, such as fact sheets and information campaigns, to help them improve their compliance to work health and safety. RTO Safety procedures are important aspects of operational day to day activity.

Recent research on leadership and culture as it relates to work health and safety examined how employers perceive their own approach to safety in an organisation.

The report, Perceived levels of management safety empowerment and justice among Australian employers, found that most employers (80 to 90 percent) believe they performed management safety empowerment behaviours frequently in their businesses, including consultation and ensuring a safe environment.

A proportion of employers indicated they did not display management safety empowerment or justice frequently in their workplaces. “Small businesses, in particular, are less likely to perceive they displayed health and safety empowerment and justice frequently in their workplace,” said Dr. Lindquist. RTO Safety procedures

Small businesses account for more than 95 percent of all businesses in the country and are accountable for the health and safety of about 4.8 million workers.

“State and territory work health and safety regulators all have a range of resources to assist small business owners, including free advisory services, information sessions, rebates, fact sheets and tools,” said Safe Work Australia CEO Michelle Baxter.

“Any small business looking for help with their health and safety obligations can contact their local regulator to discuss practical approaches to improving their safety practices.”
