In life, and in our RTO world it almost doesn’t matter what the question is, really. Education is the answer.
Everyone has access, now more than ever, to information, new learnings, tools, and whatever it takes to make a difference. Life learning remains a significant part of education. You learn something, apply the new skills and knowledge, and then learn something more.
Education comes from the people you meet, the internet (Dr Google), courses, Nationally recognised training. They all provide new skills and knowledge and the chance for you to change your life. So often we stay within our own RTO world and don’t get out. So the opportunity is there for you to make education accessible through your own RTO, and allow you to create a new standard for the people you care about.
If you are someone who has the idea and belief yet somewhere, for some reason who actually don’t understand yet, you are stalling, waiting; then don’t. If you are planning on setting up an RTO, and instead of waiting for instructions, or someone to tell you your life is meant to head this way, you need to take that step. You get the choice, the choice to make decisions and take action based on what you know and what you believe. No one else is going to give it to you.
For you to change you need to change what you know, change what is currently happening, change what you believe, and you change the actions you currently make. Sometimes this means you take on a mentor to support in your journey. Other time you can do it yourself. This change might be hard (at the time) and when you look back you will see that the change allowed you to see, to understand, to perhaps even have patience, but most of all you have learnt to be the kind of person who can make a difference.
Lifelong, informal education can transform our lives. That’s why your experience counts, and why mentors need to have experience behind them, to support you in your journey. for you, the fact is: sometimes you just have to do things, for no other reason than to do them. Do them because you can. Because they exist. George Mallory was once asked why he wanted to climb Mt. Everest, his response: “Because it’s there.”
Add some chaos to your life.
A certain amount is healthy. It stimulates action, growth, change, passion and excitement. Basically it stimulates you, and that brings on change.
Education, and life experience, involves enrolment, and volunteers in search of answers, answers that are applied to life, and where you can learn quickly. This is relevant to your RTO and to you and your journey. Your students, your staff and yourself.
The path forward, it seems, is to connect and to commence your journey of education. If you can teach something, find someone who will benefit and teach them. Make education accessible through your RTO, it creates a new standard for the people you care about.
