Setting up RTO systems

Your RTO will not be able to function properly without systems in place. The systems don’t need to be war and peace; in fact they need to be simple and easy to follow.

With no systems in place, you run the risk of your RTO thrown into chaos if you leave; even for a short time. But if you have the right systems in place, the systems run your business, and your staff can run the systems time and time again. This means you can take a short break, and you know that your RTO will keep on doing what it always does well. It also means staff could leave and you can replace them, knowing the systems can assist the new person. Your customers also know what they get, as your systems are followed.

To set up new systems you need to think of your business as something apart from yourself, as a product of your efforts, as a solution to somebody else’s problem.

Your RTO isn’t simply a group of people doing work or training. It’s an RTO with systems that’s operated by people. The systems do the work, and people operate the systems. Your RTO should be systems-dependent, not people-dependent.

Think of your RTO systems as anything but a need to meet audit expectations!

Understanding your customer expectations and demands as well as the capabilities of the organisation in meeting them, ideally sets the standard of quality for the organisation. Know your customers needs, and build your systems to meet these needs.
